To Sponsorship Department,
The “Rivers of Nepal Expedition” will take twelve TRU Adventure Studies students on an overseas adventure in May 2010. The expedition will fill a required credit necessary to graduate from this elite program. We will explore the rivers, experience the history and culture of Nepal, and learn the skills required to conduct an international expedition. The planning and execution of a major international expedition such as this is a significant step toward our career goals. Learning the methods of operating internationally and in remote areas will be a valuable experience and we will be involved in the planning process, right up to the final execution of what is sure to be an amazing journey.
As a result of our educational expedition, we are hoping not only Thompson Rivers University, but the community of Kamloops will gain great recognition of this program, what we are doing and the help our sponsors provided us. Thirteen Nepalese outdoor enthusiasts have been dreaming of becoming certified guides, some for as long as fifteen years. This training is financially impossible for many. Our team is fundraising to help get us to Nepal and to create this opportunity for them. We have a website, www.nepal2010.comwhere we can advertise your company’s logo in support of our trip. We will be posting pictures and journal entries along our adventure as often as possible. Our main fundraising event is coming up at the end of February where Angela Bueckert will be holding a presentation on her 81 days sea kayak expedition from Galliano Island BC, Canada to Glacier Bay Alaska, US. At the show we are hosting a silent auction for which any donation, large, or small, would be greatly appreciated. Upon our return home, we will host a slideshow and presentation night to share our journey and experiences with the university.
We thank you very much for your interest in our project and hope that you are able to share in the benefits and adventure by helping us with a sponsorship.
Sincerely,
Gabrielle Filiatreault
